Dr. Pamela Buchan

Dr. Pamela Buchan is an interdisciplinary marine scientist working across marine biology, coastal management and social science. Her research focuses on marine citizenship, identity and public participation in ocean governance. With a background in science communication and experience as an elected councillor, she bridges research and real-world decision making. She currently serves in key marine governance roles in the UK. Her work spans environmental science, psychology and law, and has led to initiatives like the Ocean Recovery Declaration. Recognised with the ESRC Outstanding Early Career Impact Prize, she collaborates widely across policy, conservation and research sectors.
