Sander Laudy

Born in Amsterdam and graduated at TUDelft in 1999, he started working with Roser Amadó and Lluís Domènech in Barcelona at B01 arquitectes, where he became a partner in 2005. The studio always concentrated its efforts in the decarbonisation of architecture and construction.

Emblematic projects like the Fundació Tàpies and the Archives of the Crown of Aragón in Barcelona, the CAP Pont University in Lleida and the theatre in Sant Andreu de la Barca are amongst the internationally recognized works of the studio. But smaller works like the intervention in the Semafor and Carabiners ruins and the Green Energy Central in Olot have probably been even more significant, as for the definition of the sustainable principles that have guided the architects in the exercise of their profession. The studio participated in the 2004 Biennale in Venice and won Spanish and European awards for their sustainable projects and in 2000 the Barcelona Decada Award, for “The best building of ten years ago”. To quantify the ecological footprint of their projects B01 arquitectes use Life Cycle Assessment methodologies throughout the design process.

Sander has lectured in universities in Spain and Italy and is a member of the Directive Board of the Green Building Council España since 2014. He published on sustainable architecture in Spain and the Netherlands and has been a commissary for seminars on sustainability and architecture.
