Patrick Crehan

Patrick Crehan, an Irish national residing in Belgium, holds a PhD in Mathematical Physics. He began his career in academia, teaching and conducting research at institutions including University College Dublin, the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, and universities in Japan. In 1996, he transitioned to the European Commission, working on industry policy and international research cooperation in ICT. In 1998, he founded CKA, an advisory firm specializing in research and innovation management, shifting focus over the years from IT to sustainable economic systems, particularly in food and agriculture. He is an internationally recognized expert in strategic foresight and serves as an adjunct professor at ENIT in Tunisia and as a director of the Basel-based Club of Amsterdam, as well as an elected member of the EU Chapter of the Club of Rome. His recent work includes developing a roadmap for EU-India cooperation on sustainable biofuels for aviation and maritime transport, successfully launched at the World Sustainable Development Summit in February 2024.
